Chantel Gillus was recently announced as the winner of the 2020 Miss Jabberwock Scholarship program.
The Enfield-Roanoke Rapids Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. hosted the program Aug. 8 in a COVID-19 friendly event at The Griffin Centre at Halifax Community College.
The theme, “Shine Bright Like A Diamond” describes the 10 beautiful young ladies who were vying for the title, according to a press release. The event was held to announce the Miss Jabberwock 2020 Scholarship pageant winners.
The 10 contestants were Brooke Battle, Ar’Kyri Cary, Nikalia Clark, Chantel Gillus, Latoria Jones, Dyamond Lowe, Aquayla Lynch, Nadia Moore, Shonnail Motley, and Chrisher Stevenson.
Miss Jabberwock 2020 and her Royal Court:
• The winner, Chantel Gillus, is a 12th grader at Roanoke Valley Early College in Weldon. She is the daughter of Willie and Cathy Gillus; her adviser was A. Faye Young.
• First runner-up, Dyamond X. Lowe, is a 12th grader at Roanoke Valley Early College in Weldon. She is the daughter of Carlton and Shelia Lowe; her adviser was Shelia Lowe.
• Second runner up, Shonnail F. Motley, is a 12th grader at North Edgecombe High School in Tarboro. She is the daughter of William and Stephanie Motley; her advisers were Shawna Ramsey and Jade Hughes.
