Halifax County Health Director Bruce Robistow released the latest update regarding COVID-19.

The update will be released once a week going forward on Thursday. As of Sept. 16, the Halifax County Health Department reports 7,053 total positive COVID-19 cases since March 2020. Sadly, four additional deaths have been added. The following is a breakdown of the positive cases:

• 213 new positive COVID-19 case reported since Sept. 9

• 6,415 (91.83%) patients have recovered as of Sept. 6.

• 447 (6.40%) patients have not recovered as of Sept. 13.

• 126 (1.78%) COVID-19 related deaths

• Scotland Neck (27874) – 529 cases

• Weldon (27890) – 302 cases

Halifax County vaccination status for Sept. 16, 2021:

• 24,684 people at least partially vaccinated (49% of population)

• 22,521 people fully vaccinated (45% of population)

• wash/disinfect hands frequently

According to the Northampton County Health Department’s Facebook page, as of Sept. 10, there are 2,240 total positive COVID-19 cases of which 2,062 have recovered and 70 related COVID-19 deaths. Currently, there are 108 active cases in Northampton County.
