Halifax County Health Director Bruce Robistow released the latest update regarding COVID-19.

The update will be released once a week going forward on Thursday. As of Sept. 23, the Halifax County Health Department reports 7,267 total positive COVID-19 cases since March 2020. Sadly, three additional deaths have been added. The following is a breakdown of the positive cases:

• 214 new positive COVID-19 case reported since Sept. 16

• 6,676 (92.86%) patients have recovered as of Sept. 20.

• 385 (5.36%) patients have not recovered as of Sept. 20.

• 129 (1.78%) COVID-19 related deaths

• Halifax (27839) – 366 cases

• Hollister (27844) – 413 cases

• Roanoke Rapids (27870) – 3,918 cases

• Scotland Neck (27874) – 546 cases

• Weldon (27890) – 310 cases

Halifax County vaccination status for Sept. 23, 2021:

• 25,019 people at least partially vaccinated (50% of population)

• 22,924 people fully vaccinated (46% of population)

According to the Northampton County Health Department’s Facebook page, as of Sept. 21, there are 2,365 total positive COVID-19 cases of which 2,178 have recovered and 71 related COVID-19 deaths. Currently, there are 116 active cases in Northampton County.
