Halifax County Health Director Bruce Robistow released the latest update regarding COVID-19.

The update will be released once a week going forward on Thursday. As of Oct. 7, the Halifax County Health Department reports 7,542 total positive COVID-19 cases since March 2020. Sadly, one additional death has been added. The following is a breakdown of the positive cases:

• 101 new positive COVID-19 case reported since Oct. 7.

• 7,063 (93.84%) patients have recovered as of Oct. 4.

• 382 (4.41%) patients have not recovered as of Oct. 4.

• 132 (1.75%) COVID-19 related deaths

• Enfield (27823) – 1,065 cases

• Halifax (27839) – 388 cases

• Hobgood (27843) – 161 cases

• Hollister (27844) – 419 cases

• Littleton (27850) – 624 cases

• Roanoke Rapids (27870) – 4,078 cases

• Scotland Neck (27874) – 568 cases

• Weldon (27890) – 315 cases

Halifax County vaccination status for Sept. 30, 2021:

• 25,835 people at least partially vaccinated (52% of population)

• 23,881 people fully vaccinated (48% of population)

According to the Northampton County Health Department’s Facebook page, as of Oct. 5, there are 2,474 total positive COVID-19 cases of which 2,337 have recovered and 71 related COVID-19 deaths. Currently, there are 68 active cases in Northampton County.
