At around 7 p.m. Nov. 19, Deputy D. Bybee of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office was patrolling in the area of East 11th Street near Washington Street in Weldon, when he observed a Toyota Camry with fictitious plates.
Deputy Bybee attempted to conduct a vehicle stop on the Camry, at which time, the driver jumped out of the moving vehicle and ran, according to a press release from Chief Deputy Scott Hall. Through investigation, the driver was identified as Desmond King, 27, out of the Roanoke Rapids area. Deputy Bybee secured warrants for arrest on King for driving while license revoked, fictitious registration plates, and resist, obstruct, or delay an officer.
