On Nov. 15, deputies with the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office took a report for a vehicle larceny from the Little Deep Creek Road area of Roanoke Rapids.

After investigation by Detective A.C. Wood, warrants were obtained on Princess Lavern Pitt, 46, of Roanoke Rapids, for larceny of a motor vehicle and obtaining property under false pretenses. At approximately 5 p.m. on Nov. 24, Deputies D. Bybee and J. Pignanello located and stopped the stolen vehicle near the 2000 block of Roanoke Avenue, according to a press release from Chief Deputy Scott Hall. Pitt was located as a passenger in the vehicle and was arrested and taken before the Halifax County Magistrate, where she was served the outstanding warrants as well as a warrant for felony possession of stolen goods for being in possession of the stolen vehicle.

Pitt was placed into the Halifax County Detention Center under a $10,000 secured bond with a Dec. 16 court date pending.
