Looking Back

This photo was taken from the 1954 Roanoke Rapids High School yearbook and shows The Archery Club. It was formed that year under the leadership of Sarah Williams and Ray Smith. Its purpose was to teach boys interested in archery to shoot with the bow and arrow for target practice and hunting purposes. It consisted of about 30 ninth-grade boys who met twice a month. The office is closed to the public because of the pandemic, but photos may be put into the dropbox, addressed to Tia Bedwell with a phone number and information.
