At about 9 p.m. Monday, a female victim reported to the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office that she had been sexually assaulted by a person that she was familiar with.

The victim was with the suspect, Robert Wyatt Wilson Jr., 19, of Roanoke Rapids, at a residence on U.S. Highway 158 just outside of Roanoke Rapids when the incident occurred, according to a press release from Chief Deputy Scott Hall. After the assault, the victim left and reported to Vidant North Hospital, where Detective R. Marshall began investigating. Further investigation led to Detective Marshall arresting Wilson and charging him with second-degree forcible rape and two counts of second-degree forcible sex offense.

Wilson was given a Nov. 17 court date before posting a $100,000 bond.
