The body of Andrea Fern Porch, 33, of Roanoke Rapids, was identified in Mississippi this week.
On Thursday, a press release from the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office from Sheriff Troy Peterson reads, HCSO in conjunction with the Harrison County Coroner’s Office and the Mississippi Medical Examiner’s Office had identified the deceased female found on Feb. 8. After collecting and processing evidence along with conducting interviews, the deceased female was identified as Porch.
Porch had a prior offense, according to a press release from the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office dated Aug. 29, 2019. The office responded to a residence in the area of Lonnie B. Green Road in Roanoke Rapids in reference to larceny of a firearm. Through investigation by Detective R.B. Biggerstaff, warrants were obtained on Porch, then 31. Porch was arrested on Sept. 5, 2019, and was scheduled for a first appearance in court Sept. 18, 2019.
According to the Roanoke Rapids Police Department, Fern was arrested at RRPD, but not charged by RRPD.
She was served an outstanding Order for Arrest on Feb. 26, 2020. An order for arrest is issued when a person misses court and can only be issued by a judge. The reason she missed court is unknown to the RRPD. According to the Halifax County Courthouse, the Order of Arrest was not issued for the Sept. 18 court appearance.
In addition, a missing report was not generated by RRPD with Porch listed as a victim or a missing person.
According to Harrison County, no cause of death has been determined and the case is still under investigation.
