The Weldon Police Department is looking for Jewel Sykes due to her being reported missing at about 11:30 a.m. on March 3.

According to a press release from Chief Christopher Davis, the last time Sykes was reported being seen was Feb. 2 or Feb. 3, in the 200 block of E. Sixth Street in Weldon. It is unknown what Sykes was wearing at the time of her disappearance. Sykes is approximately 5 feet, 7 inches tall with an approximate weight of 190 pounds. Sykes has black hair and brown eyes.

There has been information released stating that a ransom has been asked for Sykes’ return. The Weldon Police Department has followed up on that and discovered that Sykes’ Facebook account was hacked and this information is not true.

“We ask that people refrain from putting out false information about this case due to its ability to interfere with our investigation,” Chief Davis said. “We want to help Ms. Sykes’ family to the best of our ability and give them answers to the whereabouts of their loved one.”

Anyone with any information on the whereabouts of Sykes is encouraged to contact the Weldon Police Department at 252-536-3136 or call the non-emergency number at 252-583-1991.
