At approximately 3:41 p.m. Wednesday, Agent B.J. Murphy of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Highway 158 near Zoo Road in Roanoke Rapids for a motor vehicle violation.

The driver was identified to be Riley Renee Johnson, 25, of Highway 301 in Weldon, according to a press release from Capt. Anzell M. Harris. Murphy noticed a white powdered substance on Johnson’s nose. During the stop, Murphy seized several oxycodone pills, suboxone strips, a short red straw with a white powdered substance and a handgun.

Johnson was arrested and charged with carrying a concealed gun, possession of drug paraphernalia, simple possession of schedule III controlled substance and felony possession of schedule II controlled substance.

Johnson was given a $2,500 bond with a Dec. 16 court date.
