At about 7:30 p.m. Sunday, deputies with the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence outside of Enfield regarding a domestic violence assault where a male had been cut, according to a press release from Chief Deputy Scott Hall.

Through an investigation led by Lt. R. Rooks and A squad of HCSO and officers of the Enfield Police Department, it was determined the incident occurred at a convenient mart on Thirteen Bridges Road just outside of Enfield. The victim was cut with a razor knife and sustained a severe laceration across his chest which resulted in the victim to be airlifted to a medical facility for further treatment.

A warrant was obtained by Detective Biggerstaff for Tamela Barnes, 40, of Enfield for domestic assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury. Barnes turned herself in at the sheriff’s office, where she was arrested for the incident and placed in the Halifax County Jail with no bond and a first court appearance scheduled for Nov. 17. The victim in the case was treated and later released from the hospital.
