At about 11:55 p.m. Thursday, K-9 Police Officer Evan Sokolove with the Gaston Police Department conducted a motor vehicle stop on NC Highway 48 near Craige Street on a Toyota Avalon for a motor vehicle violation he had observed, according to a press release from Chief Corey Dixon.
A records check of the registered owner and operator of the vehicle, Nafis Pinkney of Roanoke Rapids, determined he was a wanted fugitive from justice out of Philadelphia on multiple felony and misdemeanor charges. Additionally, Pinkney was being actively pursued by the United States Marshall Service for these outstanding warrants for arrest.
Pinkney was brought before a Northampton County District Court Magistrate and held without opportunity for bond on the out of state fugitive warrant. Pinkney was provided a court date of 9 a.m. Oct. 22 in Northampton County District Court.
