WELDON — Ms. Evelyn “Bonnie” Thomas, 68, of Weldon, departed this earthly life on Sunday, Oct. 17, 2021, at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.
“Bonnie,” a daughter of the late William Thomas and Josephine Kearney, was born July 29, 1953, in Providence, Rhode Island.
She was a 1973 graduate of Weldon High School.
Treasuring her memory are her daughters, Kina Thomas of Richmond, Virginia, and Mia Thomas (Corey) of Weldon; grandchildren, Khaniya Thomas of Richmond, Quintus Jakell Thomas of Winston-Salem, Jamari Thomas and Cameron Thomas of Weldon; Tyler Banks Thomas of Richmond; sister, Jean Thomas-Banks (Charles) of Midlothian, Virginia; great-nephew, Elijah Wright of New Kent, Virginia; brothers, Curtis Al-Khaaliq (Lender) of Durham and Curtis Williams (Shirley) of Baltimore; nieces, Michelle Wright (Kipp) of Robbinsville, New Jersey, Marvella Scott of Houston, Texas, and Toshamalla McCloud (Bruce) of East Orange, New Jersey; sisters-in-law, Joanne Brenda Thomas, Margaret Carter and Jackie Thomas; special cousins, Joyce Butler and Gloria Askew; special nieces and nephews, Desha Powell, Nicki Valentine-Shearin, Tomelle Valentine-Vincent, Jarell Valentine, Amara Valentine-McLeod, Derrick Mercer, Angela Cheatham and Davida Harris; friend/brother, Tommie Valentine; other relatives and friends.
A public walk-through viewing will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 24 at Cofield Mortuary in Weldon, which is handling the arrangements.
Funeral services will be held at noon Monday, Oct. 25 from The Memorial Chapel of the funeral home, which is handling the arrangements. Interment will follow in Crestview Memorial Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids.
