EMPORA, Va. — Mr. Jacob Lloyd Alexander, 68, of Emporia, Virginia, departed this life on Saturday, Jan. 9, 2021, at Southside Regional Medical Center in Petersburg, Virginia.

Jacob, a son of the late Chester and Lucille Webb Alexander, was born April 6, 1952, in Brunswick County, Virginia.

He is survived by his wife, Alice Alexander of the home; daughters, Keil Dawson (Jamie) and Shauna Boone (Curtis) of Gaston; grandchildren, Jamiella, Destini, Imani and Semari; children-of-the-heart, Tyrone Baker (Rita) of Henrico, Robin Mitchell, Terry Lee (Wanda) of Gaston, Willie Lee and Denise Edwards (Sam) of Petersburg, Mary Cooper (Randy) of Philadelphia and Robert Lee (Annie) of Emporia; 28 grandchildren-of-the-heart and 39 great-grandchildren-of-the-heart; siblings, Chester Alexander, Bernard Alexander, Margaret Bowser (Cecil), Sally Banks (Randy), Edward Alexander, Howard Alexander, David Alexander, Michael Alexander (Debbie), William Alexander; and sisters-in-law, Helen Fields and Shirley Worrell.

A public walk-through viewing will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. today, Friday, Jan. 15 at Cofield Mortuary in Weldon, which is handling the arrangements.

A graveside celebration of life will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 16 at Greensville Memorial Park in Emporia, with Apostle Mildred Jenkins officiating.

Because of COVID-19, the funeral home will follow CDC guidelines by limiting the number of attendees for all services. For viewings, only five persons will be allowed in the funeral home at one time. Masks and/or facial coverings are required and social distancing will be enforced for all services.
