ROCKY MOUNT — Kevin M. Webb was born on March 1, 1973, in Halifax County. His parents are Larry Owens and Shirley Webb Owens. He transitioned from this earthly life to his Heavenly home on Tuesday morning, July 20, 2021.

At an early age, Kevin joined Fidelity Baptist Church in Littleton, where he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior. He was a faithful loving member of his church, served in the Youth Choir, and on the Junior Usher Board. As a youngster of about 10 years old, he began serving as the church Sunday School Superintendent. During his adult life, Kevin transferred his church membership to Word Tabernacle in Rocky Mount, where he also served on the Usher Board. He would routinely say to his family “You should have been at Word today!” and proceeded to share the sermon for the day. Prior to COVID, for many years, his birthday wish was for his family to attend church with him.

Kevin graduated from Northwest Halifax High School in Littleton with the class of 1991. He began his nursing career at Halifax Memorial Hospital and Albemarle Nursing home as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). He advanced to a Registered Nurse (RN) after obtaining his degree from Edgecombe Community College, and later received his Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from the University of Phoenix. Nursing was always his true calling.

In 1999, Kevin was employed by Nash General Hospital where he worked for the last 22 years. He was a great and skillful nurse and worked in almost every department, including The Medical Surgical Unit, The Intravenous (IV) Unit and The Emergency Room Department. He also worked briefly at Coastal Plain Hospital and recently, was pleased to be involved in community patient outreach administering COVID vaccinations. However, home for Kevin at Nash, was the Endoscopy Unit where he has worked for the past 10 years.

Kevin loved being a nurse, and his patients dearly loved him. Countless times, former patients or their families would come up to his family and tell them what great care he took of them or their loved ones. For our family, when his grandma was sick with a terminal illness, every day, whether he worked or not, he came and checked on her and helped take care of her. Kevin has always had a servant’s heart. Even as a young boy, he would bring home wounded or stray animals in order to care for them. Everyone he met, Kevin welcomed with love, an open heart and a beautiful smile.

Kevin was united in marriage to the former Elise Belikoff, and was a loving and kind husband. They had two sons whom he absolutely adored, David and Josh Webb. He deeply cherished the time he spent with his boys and his family.

Kevin loved his patients, his work family, the community he was from, and regularly visited dearly loved elders in that community. His family, his boys and his wife meant the world to him! Kevin had an outgoing loving spirit and a joyous ready smile for everyone.

Left with dear memories of his life are his wife, Elise Webb of Rocky Mount; two sons, David and Josh Webb of Rocky Mount; his parents, Larry and Shirley Webb Owens of Roanoke Rapids; two sisters, Geneva Webb Johnson (Craig) of Youngsville and Lauren Owens of Raleigh; one niece, Nyah Johnson of Youngsville; and a host of other relatives and friends who will cherish the memories they shared with Kevin for a lifetime.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 24 at Word Tabernacle Church, 821 Word Plaza in Rocky Mount, with Pastor James D. Gailliard delivering the eulogy. Burial will follow in the Fidelity Baptist Church Cemetery, 627 Summit Road in Littleton.

Because of COVID-19, all CDC guidelines will be followed by the wearing of masks, social distancing and limiting the number of persons in attendance.
