Richard Earl Williams passed away on Wednesday, July 14, 2021.

After graduating from Roanoke Rapids High School in 1968, Ricky attended Elon College in Elon, and graduated in 1972 with a physical education degree. Ricky lived his life helping and praying for others and was faithful in love and truth in Jesus and in his prayers for the intercession of God in the affairs of humanity. He longed for and sought the light of heaven in his daily life and for an unassuming life of love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness and temperance. (Galatians 5:22, 23a)

Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Albert E. and Merium B. Williams; paternal grandparents, Clyde B. and Della W. Williams; and maternal grandparents, H. Grady and Elvira R. Baggett.

Rick is survived by his wife, Shirley Hendrix Williams; four siblings, David L. Williams (Trudy), Janet W. Arrington (Ken), Brenda W. Gunnels (Dick), Albert K. Williams (Ingrid-deceased) and Tommy Fondren, a friend who was like a brother to him; eight nieces and nephews and numerous grandnieces and nephews.

Rick faithfully blessed family members annually with timely birthday cards.

A memorial celebration was observed Sunday, July 18 at Gallop Memorial Chapel in Barco.
