GARYSBURG — Mrs. Ruenellar Anderson Rook, 93, of Garysburg, transitioned into eternal rest on Sunday, Oct. 11, 2020, at Vidant North Hospital in Roanoke Rapids.
Ruenellar, a daughter of the late Lee and Cornelia Flythe Anderson, was born April 15, 1927, in Northampton County.
As a member of Cool Spring Baptist Church, she served faithfully as a Deaconess, Senior Usher and Missionary.
For a number of years, she was a seamstress in a local clothing factory.
On April 17, 1947, she married Jesse James Rook and God blessed their union with five children. She was preceded in death by her husband and two children, Teresa Rook Hutcheson and George Quince Rook.
She is survived by her sons, James Melvin Rook of Garysburg, the Rev. Clifton Bernard Rook (Paula) of Kernersville and Mark Anderson Rook of Garysburg; son-in-law, H.T. Hutcheson of Virginia; daughter-in-law, Linda Rook of Garysburg; 13 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; siblings, Jeanette A. Moore of Hampton Roads and George Anderson (Jackie) of Charlotte; in-laws, Maggie Harding of Pleasant Hill, Susie Long and Maryland Rook (Laura) of Garysburg; three generations of nieces and nephews; a host of cousins, other relatives and many friends.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21 at the Cool Spring Baptist Church Cemetery in Gaston, with Bishop Wayne I. Welch Sr. officiating.
Because of COVID-19, we will follow CDC guidelines by limiting the number of attendees for all services. Masks and/or facial coverings are required for the safety and protection of everyone in attendance.
