Roanoke Rapids rolls Granville Central

Catherine MacNichol scored four goals to pair with three assists on Monday as Roanoke Rapids registered a 9-0 victory over Northern Carolina 1A/2A opponent Granville Central.

The Jackets now stand 9-0 this season, and 8-0 in league affairs.

Kamdyn Jean also played well for the hosts, scoring twice and brokering two goals, while Logan Abram launched a pair of one-timers.

Jennah Gross rounded out the mercy-rule triumph with her third goal of the spring.

Kylie Wade and Sue Davis also contributed to the Buzz City ledger, producing two of the swarm’s seven assists.

RRHS concludes its regular season on Thursday versus Northern Nash, while Granville Central (6-2, 4-2 NCC) travels to Louisburg today.

Spence, Ridgecroft stifle NEA

Clayson Spence went 2 for 3 with an RBI on Monday to lift Ridgecroft over Northeast Academy, 7-3, at the Tar Heel Independent Conference Tournament.

The Rams, now 6-7 this season, squared off against Pungo Christian Academy in Tuesday’s second round.

NEA concluded its spring with a 4-9 mark.

APA rallies to spurn Halifax Academy

KINSTON — Arendell Parrott Academy crossed five runners in a breakout fourth inning on Monday to earn a 6-3 victory over non-conference foe Halifax Academy.

The Patriots (16-2) return to work on Thursday at Faith Christian, while Halifax (8-3) plays host to Brunswick Academy this afternoon.

BaseballTerra Ceia stops Northeast Academy

Terra Ceia plated 12 runs over the final three innings on Monday to defeat Northeast Academy, 15-4, in first-round play of the Tar Heel Independent Conference Tournament.

The Knights moved to 5-9 overall this season ahead of Tuesday’s matchup with Ridgecroft (9-2), while NEA finished the spring without a victory.
