MacNichol, Jackets rip Northern Nash

ROCKY MOUNT — Catherine MacNichol registered six goals on Monday as Roanoke Rapids booked a 7-0 victory over non-conference host Northern Nash.

The Yellow Jackets now stand 4-0 this season.

Skyler Wade also found the back of the net, while Kamdyn Jean tallied five assists.

Rylie Wade played 80 minutes in goal, stopping five shots.

RRHS, now 4-0 this season, returns to the pitch on Monday at Louisburg, while Northern Nash (2-4) travels to Wakefield on Thursday.


Greenfield blanks Halifax Academy

WILSON — Justin Holland went 2 of 3 with four RBIs on Monday as Greenfield earned a 4-0 victory over Halifax Academy.

The Knights, which also got 14 strikeouts from hurler Nathan Woodard, moved to 9-1 this season ahead of Tuesday’s rematch with the Vikings.

Halifax Academy is now 3-2 this season.

Warriors outlast Eagles

LASKER — Ahoskie Christian plated three runs in the top half of the eighth inning on Monday to survive Northeast Academy, 9-6, in opening-round play of the Sgt. Will McLawhorn Scholarship Tournament.

Ahoskie (2-1) returns to the office next week against New Life Christian Academy, while NEA (0-4) faced Bethel Assembly Christian Academy on Tuesday.
