Colts roll in tournament opener

ELIZABETH CITY — Sophomore Ava Morris registered seven kills, two service aces and a pair of digs on Monday to help The Albemarle School book a straight-sets victory over Northeast Academy during opening-round play of the NCISAA Tar Heel Independent Conference volleyball tournament.

The 25-22, 25-12, 25-20 victory moved the Colts to 8-3 overall this season.

Miranda Parker also performed ably for the hosts, tallying six kills, while Madison Mansfield contributed a team-high eight assists.

NEA concluded its 2020 campaign with a 1-10 overall record.
