Moore, Pam Pack earn road triumph

GASTON — Duke University commit Terry Moore accounted for a trio of touchdowns on Tuesday to helm Washington’s 45-22 victory over non-conference host Northampton County.

The Pam Pack now stand 4-2 this season.

Senior quarterback Hayes Pippin also played well for the visitors, connecting with Moore for a sixer in the second half, then returning a Jaguar fumble some 70 yards for the game’s final score.

Northampton was paced by Kwamie Pitt, who reached the end zone twice in the opening stanza — giving the junior 10 paint-grabs this season.

Washington returns to the office on Friday at Greene Central, while NHC (4-2) entertains Tar Roanoke 1A neighbor Northwest Collegiate.

Eagles continue soaring in league play

WARRENTON — Warren County turned back Southeast Collegiate Prep Academy on Tuesday in a matchup of Tar Roanoke 1A foes.

The 25-21, 25-13, 25-21 triumph moved the Eagles to 15-1 overall this season, and 14-0 in league play.

Warren County returned to the floor on Wednesday at J.F. Webb, while SCPA (2-6, 2-6 Tar Roanoke) hosts North Edgecombe today.

Vikings travel well, spurn WPA

WILSON — Northwest Collegiate and Technical Academy dropped the first set on Tuesday to Tar Roanoke 1A host Wilson Prep Academy, then stormed back to file a 3-2 triumph.

The 17-25, 25-19, 25-22, 18-25 (15-7) victory moved the Vikings to 2-7 overall this season, and 1-6 in league affairs.

NCTA returns to the floor next week at North Edgecombe, while Wilson Prep (3-6, 0-3 Tar Roanoke) traveled to Weldon on Wednesday.



Firebirds overwhelm Buzz City

BAILEY — Jared Gonzalez scored three goals on Monday to lead Southern Nash by Big East 2A/3A guest Roanoke Rapids, 6-nil.

The Firebirds (14-2-1, 9-0 Big East) returned to action on Wednesday at rival Louisburg, while RRHS (6-4, 3-4 Big East) hosted Northern Nash.


Jackets solve Warriors

Roanoke Rapids bettered longtime rival Louisburg on Monday in 25-20, 18-25, 25-23, 25-22 fashion.

The Yellow Jackets, now 8-3 overall this season and 7-3 in Big East 2A/3A affairs, returned to the floor on Tuesday at Rocky Mount.

Louisburg (13-4, 9-2 Big East) also returned to work on Tuesday as the host of Franklinton.
