Vikings sprint past Trojans, book date with Perquimans

TARBORO — Light work.

Such was the case on Thursday for Tarboro, which scored in bunches en route to registering a 48-7 victory over Southeast Collegiate Prep Academy in second-round action of the N.C. High School Athletic Association 1A football playoffs.

The Vikings now stand 10-1 this season.

In control from the outset, Tarboro reached the end zone early and often, highlighted by a pair of special teams scores that helped form a 42-0 lead with 7:25 remaining in the second quarter.

From there, it was a simple matter of cruise control for the hosts, who will entertain high-powered Perquimans (8-2) in next week’s third round.

Southeast, which scored late on a touchdown strike from Trayvese Silver to Jamerius Hudson, finished its 2021 campaign with a 5-7 overall record.
