Davis leads Vikings by Warriors

LITTLETON — Junior Shamarjah Davis finished with 24 points and 11 rebounds on Tuesday as Northwest Collegiate and Technical Academy edged North Edgecombe, 62-59.

The Tar Roanoke 1A victory moved the Vikings to 4-5 overall this season, and 3-1 in league affairs.

Marquees Richardson also played well for the hosts, scoring 11 points to pair with eight boards, while Demarius Johnson added 10 points and nine rebounds.

NCTA returned to action on Wednesday versus Wilson Prep Academy, while North Edgecombe (6-2, 4-1 TRAC) traveled to Rocky Mount Prep.

Gryphons storm Buzz City

Rocky Mount sprinted to a 15-point halftime lead on Tuesday before waltzing to an 86-50 triumph over Big East 2A/3A host Roanoke Rapids.

The Gryphons, now 8-3 overall and 4-0 in league play, return to the floor next week at Southern Nash.

RRHS (2-4, 0-4 Big East), which has dropped its last four, entertains association foe Louisburg on Friday.

Shelton, Knights keep Eagles winless

LASKER — Elijah Shelton scored 29 points on Tuesday to lift Terra Ceia to an 83-50 victory over Tar Heel Independent host Northeast Academy.

The Knights (4-5, 1-0 TIC) return to the office on Friday at Ridgecroft, while NEA (0-10, 0-2 TIC) skips to Lawrence Academy.

Gryphons run through the Hive

Rocky Mount returned from the holidays in fine form on Tuesday, posting a 61-24 triumph over Big East 2A/3A neighbor Roanoke Rapids.

The Gryphons (11-1, 4-0 Big East) are idle until a trip to Southern Nash next week, while RRHS (5-1, 3-1 Big East) hosts Louisburg on Friday.

Jones carries Northeast to victory

LASKER — Senior center Emalee Jones scored a game-high 33 points on Tuesday as Northeast Academy survived Tar Heel Independent guest Terra Ceia, 64-48.

Hayes Hatcher also factored prominently in the win, netting 15 points, while Sarah Kate Ricks and Gracie Baker finished with seven apiece.

Carly James paced the TC contingent with 26 points.

The Eagles (3-2, 1-0 TIC) resume play on Friday at Lawrence Academy, while Terra Ceia (6-1, 0-1 TIC) is idle until next week.

LASKER — Preston Ordnung scored 11 points on Tuesday as Northeast Academy skipped to a 40-9 victory over Terra Ceia.

Jake Parks and Colby Long also played well for the Eagles, finishing with eight and seven points, respectively.

Ricks shines in Big Red triumph

LASKER — Karson Ricks finished with five points on Tuesday during Northeast Academy’s 16-9 win over Terra Ceia.

Payton Odom also factored in the triumph, booking four points.
