Warriors run Jaguars

LEGGETT — North Edgecombe held serve at home on Friday, turning back Tar Roanoke 1A guest Northampton County by a 91-57 margin.

The Warriors now stand 8-2 overall this season, and 6-1 in league play ahead of tonight’s trip to undefeated KIPP ENC.

Northampton County (3-6, 2-4 TRAC) next sees the floor on Wednesday versus Weldon.

Lawrence vanquishes Northeast Academy

MERRY HILL — Conner Ferebee scored a game-high 22 points on Friday to help Lawrence Academy stifle Northeast Academy, 68-16.

The Tar Heel Independent Conference triumph moved the Warriors to 11-6 overall this season, and 1-1 in league play.

Sawyer Mizelle also factored in the victory, scoring 18 points, in addition to junior Charlie Spruill, who finished with 14 points, eight rebounds and four steals.

LA returns to the office tonight versus Ridgecroft, while NEA (0-13, 0-2 TIC) journeys to Eastern Christian Home School on Wednesday.

Grant, Jaguars collect road W

LEGGETT — JanaiJah Grant scored 20 points to go with five rebounds and three steals on Friday as Northampton County survived North Edgecombe, 61-46, in a matchup of Tar Roanoke 1A neighbors.

NHC is now 5-4 overall this season, and 5-1 in league affairs.

Amya Harmon and Michaela Hodge also played well for the visitors, scoring 11 and 10 points respectively, with Hodge also contributing 18 rebounds.

Northampton County returns to work on Wednesday versus Weldon, while North Edgecombe (1-8, 1-5 TRAC) is idle until a Jan. 19 trip to Tarboro.

Warriors edge Eagles in league clash

MERRY HILL — Sam Hughson scored 15 points to pair with nine rebounds, five assists and as many steals on Friday as Lawrence Academy outlasted Tar Heel Independent Conference guest Northeast Academy, 48-38.

The Warriors (14-4, 2-0 TIC) also got 12 points from Emma Smith and eight steals from Leah Woodard.

Lawrence returns to the court on Thursday against Ridgecroft, while NEA (4-3, 1-1 TIC) travels to Eastern Christian Home School on Wednesday.
